Meeting in Special Psychiatric Hospital in Dobrota - 16.01.2014

Representatives of the project OPEN MIND team visited Special Hospital for Psychiatry Dobrota in order to meet with the newly appointed director Dragan Čabarkapa and present the project, previous results and planned activities. The meeting was also attended by the consultant on the project, Dr Paolo Serra from Italy. This was a good opportunity to present his previous experience in the field of mental health. Since the project OPEN MIND promotes mental health, this meeting was very important for planning further activities of which some may be implemented in cooperation with this institution.

In addition, the project team met with Dr. Aleksandar Tomčuk, a psychiatrist from Dobrota, who in cooperation with the CMH Kotor (within the Twinning Light Project, concerning improvement of services in the field of mental health in Montenegro) plans to start a pilot project of home care that would cover a certain number of patients. Dr Paolo Serra has experience in the field of home care as it was part of his career spent working exactly in this area, and this meeting was an excellent opportunity for some of the most important things to be shared with medical personnel appointed to work on this home care program.

Bearing in mind that the project of home care in the field of mental health would mean the beginning of the process of deinstitutionalization (often mentioned and promoted within the project OPEN MIND), Caritas offered its assistance and cooperation in the planned pilot project.
